UMak launches law school
THE University of Makati (UMak) will launch its School of Law in August and will offer a Juris Doctor program to aspiring lawyers nationwide.

It approved a full scholarship program for the pioneer batch of the law school wherein students will enjoy free tuition and book stipend annually and a P10,000 monthly allowance for the entire academic year.
Slots are open to students who obtained Latin honors in their undergraduate studies and those who pass the UMak LSAT and the Legal Education Board-mandated Philippine Law School Admission Test (PHILSAT).

“The UMak School of Law is part of the city government’s effort to continuously provide opportunities for our residents and fellow Filipinos to partake in the economic progress of the city towards self-development that will contribute to further progress of our city and the country,” UMak President Tomas B. Lopez Jr. said.
The School of Law program was developed with the guidance of its Founding Dean, former Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Binay said the UMak School of Law “aims to develop future Filipino lawyers that can excel in both the theory and practice of the law, capable of meeting the changing demands of the legal profession, anchored on the principles of love of country, justice and the rule of law.”
