‘HUANING’ OUT, SUPER TYPHOON ‘NORU’ IN

AS tropical storm Huaning (international name: Haitang) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday, the state weather bureau monitored another typhoon called

Noru that may affect the country. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Noru was spotted 1,885 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes, which is still outside PAR.

The agency said it had a maximum sustained winds of up to 170 kilometers per hour and moved near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph.

Tropical storm Huaning made landfall in Taiwan on Monday and left the southwest monsoon, which affects the western section of Northern Luzon and Central Luzon, Pagasa said.

The southwest monsoon will continue to bring rains over areas of Luzon on Tuesday, the agency added.

A tropical depression is also affecting the country and was located at 890 km northwest of Basco, Batanes, and had a maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kph.

Pagasa said it moved near the center and had gustiness of up to 65 kph.

Meanwhile, according to the agency, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over the regions of Ilocos and Cordillera and the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorm will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, Pagasa said.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and the western section of the Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Pagasa said winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to west with slight to moderate seas.
