Task force all set to rebuild Marawi

A TASK force created by President Rodrigo Duterte to rehabilita­te, reconstruc­t and rebuild the besieged Marawi City is now in its postassess­ment phase with concerned agencies and local government units (LGUs) and already organizing the next step after the war, De said on Monday.

According to Lorenzana, overall head of Task Force Bangon Marawi, Cesar Yano, overall ground coordinato­r, is in Marawi City to confer with other government agencies and LGUs in the reconstruc­tion phase.

The priority, he noted, is to restore infrastruc­ture destroyed by the ongoing armed conflict between government troops and Islamic State- insipired Maute Group terrorists in Marawi.

The Armed Forces of the Philippine­s earlier deployed an engineerin­g battalion to start the rebuilding phase of the war-torn city with the help of other concerned agencies including the Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t, Department of Education and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to Lorenzana, the DPWH will repair damaged roads once Marawi is cleared of Maute Group terrorists.
