INCLEMENT weather brought by southeast monsoon or “habagat” caused flooding and suspension of classes in all public and private schools in several towns of Rizal on Wednesday.

The cancellation of classes was announced in Cainta, Taytay, Teresa and Morong. The city of Antipolo and towns of Angono, Baras, Binangonan and Tanay also suspended classes from pre-school to senior high school.

By 5 a.m. on Wednesday, persistent heavy rainfall brought flash floods to low lying areas of Cainta and Taytay, including Country Homes Cypress Village and Vista Verde Homes.

Continuous downpour caused chest- deep flooding in some parts of the province while an old tree was toppled along the highway in Cainta.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has warned of habagat to cause cloudy skies and light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol, Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga and Zamboanga peninsula regions.
