DILG COMPLETES PAMPANGA WATER IMPOUNDING PROJECT
THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the small water impounding project constructed in Barangay Baliti in Pampanga to benefit 5,000 farmers and their families has been completed. This would help the farmers by increasing cropping intensity and yield, facilitating growing crops other than rice, and farm augmentation. The project is under DILG’s 2017 budget for P22.32 million to “help the agricultural production” in the province’s farming community. DILG Provincial Director Myrvi Fabia said project beneficiaries with budget ranging from P15-24 million are the the towns of Arayat, Apalit, Bacolor, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Macabebe, Minalin, San Luis, San Simon and Santo Tomas.
SABANG BRIDGE FINISHED IN 6 MONTHS
SAN Miguel Holdings Corp. said it has completed the construction of Sabang Bridge along Southern Tagalog Arterial Road in just six months. The 231-meter bridge, which connects Ibaan and Batangas, was damaged by Typhoon “Nina” and its affected section, spanning 60 meters and located right above a 55-meter deep ravine, had to be demolished to make way for a new one. The reconstruction included the construction of a new one using modular, pre-engineered bridges. “Overall, this project shows that with advanced technologies available to us today, and with the expertise of Filipino engineers, we’re more than equipped and capable of undertaking the massive infrastructure projects that our country needs--and delivering these on time,” SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon Ang said.
NEW CLUZON PNP CHIEF ASSUMES OFFICE
CHIEF Supt. Amador Valera Corpus officially assumed as director of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) or Central Luzon after a turn-over ceremony held in Camp Olivas at San Fernando City, Pampanga on Friday. Corpus is a Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Sinag Tala Class ‘86 and “Mistah” of Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa. He replaced Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino who is retiring on September 7 and designated by President Rodrigo Duterte as director the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. A native of La Union province, Corpus serve 17 years of his career in Central Luzon and was provincial director of Tarlac Police Provincial Office in 2010 before he was assigned chief of PRO3 Deputy Regional Director for Operation. He said the campaign against illegal drugs will be prioritize followed by cleansing of personnel of the entire regional police force.
