MMPC secures 270-unit truck deal with MMI, invests on production materials handling facilities

MITSUBISHI Motors Philippine­s Corp. ( MMPC) has recently turned over a fleet of FUSO trucks to MetroPac Movers Inc. ( MMI), one of the biggest cargo transport and logistics companies in the country today. MMI, Investment­s Group has purchased - cally 177 Canter FE71s, 23 units of the FIV1P 6-wheeler medium duty truck and 70 units of the FJY1W 10-wheeler rigid truck.

According to Mr. Armand Alfonso, President of Trucking Pro - a subsidiary of MetroPac Movers, Inc., they have chosen FUSO to be their partner in business due to its strong history of reliabilit­y and quality.

This recent purchase by MMI is an indication of the Philippine­s’ robust commercial vehicle industry. In fact, FUSO truck sales have increased 44 percent compared to the same period last year. “With this growing demand, trust that we will continue to offer superior products relevant to the needs of the market while putting customer satisfacti­on at the center of our goals at all times,”

Meanwhile, to further improve local operations and continue its commitment to manufactur­e quality automobile­s, MMPC has invested around P360M on additional land and constructe­d its own container yard and material handling operations (MHO) ware- house, increasing the total land area of its Santa Rosa plant from 21 hectares to around 23 hectares and building area from 83,000 sq.m to 120,500 sq.m.

For the past years, MMPC has been leasing three storage facilities outside of its plant for the stockpile of completely knocked down (CKD) units and locally developed parts. The constructi­on of these facilities will mean that MMPC can now house these items within its vicinity. According to MMPC First Vice President for Manufactur­ing Division, Arnaldo Janolo, “The reduction in storage, transporta­tion, and MHO cost will further and quality of our products.”
