Topnotch educators, experts to lead 2017 PEC

Apart from putting together educationa­l leaders from internatio­nal and schools, the 2017 PEC will feature speakers from gov organizati­ons in the country, who will share insights and introduce possible solutions to problems that have stemmed from the implementa­tion of K to 12.

Among the roster of speakers is Thomas Hoerr, emeritus head of the New City School in St. Louis, conference with his keynote presentati­on: “The Formative Five: Teaching for Success in Life.”

Hoerr served as the head of New City School from 1981 to 2015 and assisted the school’s planning and developmen­t efforts.

Ac c o r d i n g to DepEd, Philippine­s was the last country in Asia to have refrained from having a 10-year pre-university cycle.

The education department said the 12- year program was the global standard for students and profession­als and had been proven as the best period for learning under basic education.
