Grab PH twits Uber, claims user data secure

GRAB Philippine­s has issued assurances that its data remains well protected in the wake of the revelation that rival transport company Uber had been hacked in October last year.

The Philippine National Privacy Commission summoned Uber them to provide the agency detailed informatio­n on the nature of the breach, personal data of Filipinos possibly involved, and the measures taken by Uber to address the breach.

“By virtue of its operations and processing of Filipino enduser data, Uber is considered a Personal Informatio­n Controller and must comply with Philippine data privacy and protection laws,” the NPC said.
