Newbie director Julius Alfonso was, as expected, nervous when he attended the announceme­nt of the last four entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival. The fate of his directoria­l debut “Deadma Walking” from T-Rex Entertainm­ent Production­s was hanging in a balance.

Deadma Walking failed to make the first MMFF selection based on script submission in June, and fortunatel­y made it this time around, turned in as a

Happy with the results, he shared how his team stormed the heavens with prayers for this second chance since they knew producer Rex Tiri intended the movie for the festival. Tiri had already been disappoint­ed in 2016 with the late Gil Portes’ “Hermano Puli.”

“So when this Palanca award winning script of Eric Cabahug landed on his lap, he already knew it is the script that he had been waiting for,” Direk Julius continued.

Deadma Walking stars Joross Gamboa and Edgar Allan Guzman in the lead as two gays whose strong bond will be tested when his friend to plan his fake death, fake wake and fake funeral in a hilarious but touching tale about friendship and love.
