- LISBET K. ESMAEL

PLDT Inc. said its data and technology initiatives boosted the growth of its enterprise segment, which reported revenue growth of 11 percent to P25.3 billion in the first nine months of 2017.

In a statement issued over the weekend, Eric Alberto, PLDT chief revenue officer and executive vice president, said data and information and communications technology (ICT) services accounted for 63 percent or P16 billion of the total revenues of the unit.

He added the segment’s voice and text accounted for the remaining balance or P9.3 billion in revenues recorded in the period.

Alberto said PLDT continues to seek more partnerships in different sectors, such as in the IT-BPM (information technology-business process management) industry, in order to pursue plans for the faster rollout of ICT infrastructure and to strengthen its position as a digital solutions provider to companies.

“We are now enabling even more larger companies, the outsourcing industry, the public sector, and small and medium enterprises not just with reliable connectivity and basic telco services but relevant and competitive data-driven solutions that help them achieve success and better serve their customers,” he said.

In October, PLDT launched #Ready Initiative under its ‘Smart City’ program, which would focus on government agencies as well as local government units in supporting command center operations during a natural disaster.

The telco also partnered recently with ICT provider Cisco “to offer next- generation business solutions, starting with intelligent WiFi connectivity for both large and small companies,” said Juan Victor Hernandez, senior vice president and head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise.
