Titans upset Red Lions in 19-U cagefest

AMA University scored a huge victory against powerhouse San Beda College, 62- 57, in the 19under class eliminatio­n round of the Manila Brotherhoo­d Basketball League Associatio­n Inc. school division at the Trinity University of Asia Gym in Quezon City.

Slotman Adrian Magada and power forward Coleng Garcia topscored for the Titans with 16 each while Airness Alao who manned the paint effectivel­y and scoring at the other end producing eight points.

Karl Bautista also chipped in eight markers en route to AMA’s second straight win in the league organized by Brotherhoo­d Basketball League headed by its president Erick Kirong of Macway Travel.

The Red Lions who failed to widen their gap they held in three quarters and succumbed to rival in the final stretch got a big performanc­e from Makaulley Williams with 18 points.

In the other 19-under match of the tournament sponsored by Cocolife, Macway Travel and Prince Sports Apparel, Arellano Unversity survived Arandia College, 80-68 in an intense and physical game but experience prevailed over pure talents in the newly organized grassroots basketball tourney in the Big City.

Fourth Pack Basketball Club stunned favorite La Salle Antipolo, 53-47, in the 17-under category.

San Beda’s 13- under team, meanwhile, dominated Rich Golden, 67-43 while San Beda Cubs outshot Hot Shots, 74-35, in the juniors division.
