FEU braves education mission, nine decades onward

-

GLOBALLY, the world continues to face geopolitical twists and turns, and climate change challenges. Amidst these trials and tribulations, Far Eastern University (FEU) gratefully celebrates its 90th Founding Anniversary with the theme “Future-ready learning in tumultuous times.”

Marking the year-long celebration, the FEU community pays tribute to the institution’s founder Dr. Nicanor Reyes through a ceremonial wreath laying at Manila Memorial Park.

“Ninety years may have passed, but our education mission remains and grows. Dr. Reyes would be proud of where FEU has expanded to today,” says FEU Chair Aurelio Montinola III. “We have K to 12, traf we creatively press on--by teaching skills not content, by using technology to simplify and expand faculty and student classroom experience, and by celebrating the achievements of our ever-talented alumni and sports.”

From one campus, FEU expanded to 11. From one accounting program, the university now covers basic education, senior high school, and tertiary education, and offers value tuition alternatives, ranging from modest to mid-range. In 2018, FEU demonstrates its commitment to modernization with new buildings in Roosevelt College Rodriguez and FEU Diliman, and the completion of the FEU Alabang campus.

FEU Chair Emeritus Dr. Lourdes Reyes Montinola, the daughter of the founder, leads the program. This includes the blessing of the founder’s grave to the sound of taps by the FEU Drums and Bugle Corps, gun salute, and release of doves.

“Our roadmap 2020, calls for us to be a top 5 school, but we believe that we are already there. Our next by our 100th anniversary in 2028. As always, we need all of our stakeholders’ support to extend the legacy of our beloved founder. Dr. Nicanor Reyes was brave in 1928. We must likewise continue to be brave in 2018 and onward,” says Montinola.
