PBA D-League Foundation Cup opens June 4

HOOPS action continues as the Philippine Basketball Associatio­n Developmen­tal League (PBA D-League) Foundation Cup 2018 fires off on June 4 with six teams battling for the crown.

Che’Lu Bar and Grill is out to improve its runner-up finish in the season- opening Aspirants’ Cup, which featured 12 teams.

The Revellers, who were backed by San Sebastian College- Recoletos, lost to Zark’s Burger-Lyceum of the Philippine­s University in the finals series that went down the wire.

Also vying for the title are the Marinerong Pilipino Skippers, last year’s Foundation Cup finalists Centro Escolar University (CEU) Scorpions, Go For Gold- College of St. Benilde Scratchers, Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals and AMA Online Education Titans.

Marinero posted a final four finish in the previous conference after getting the No. 2 seed with a 9-2 win-loss record while CEU entered the quarterfin­als as the

No. 3 seed with an 8-3 card.

Go For Gold is eyeing to improve its No. 8 finish on a 5-6 card while Batangas (No. 10 on 2-9) and AMA (No. 12 on 1-10) are looking to rack up more wins this time around.

This year’s Foundation Cup will have a double-round robin format in the eliminatio­ns that will run until July 26. All eliminatio­n round games will be played at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

A new Foundation Cup champion will be crowned as the reigning titlists Cignal Hawkeyes opted not to defend their title.
