Cembrano-Marquez duo rules Founders Cup

THE tandem of Tony Cembrano and Federico Marquez emerged as the overall champion in the 19th Don Celso Tuason & Valley Founders Cup held last May 10 to 13 at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City.

Cembrano and Marquez carded an identical 60s at Valley’s South Course and scored a best ball 66 at the North Course for a total tally of 186.

Meynard Ko and Roy Nudalo claimed the overall lowest gross plum with a 164 total built on 48-55 and 61.

Division I gross champion Marvin Caparros and King Stehmeier

Glen Lemoncito and Ephraim De Mesa had a 177 to win via lower handicap against the runner-up duo of Anil Sehwani and Louie Inoncillo, who each posted 177.

In the second division, Fernando Reyla and Ed Abesami, with 11.55 team handicap, won over second placer Rey Raquel and Edgardo Tinio after scoring an identical 181s. Domingo Brion and Edgardo Santos had a 152 to clinch the gross title in the same division.

Division III net winners Marcus Andaya and Joel Liclican sizzled with 182 to beat the 177 of Donald Macomb and Ferdinand Alcaraz. Jaime Santos and Rudy Ferraren snatched the gross title with a 140.

Paulo Gonzales and JR Villanueva took the Division IV gross plum with a 123 while Antonio Sierra and Manuel Ramos grabbed the net trophy with a 167. Net runner-up Rodolfo See and Felix Tienzo posted a 165.

Meanwhile, ladies’ net champion Violy Pegels and Anli Wu scored a 167 aggregate followed by Jocelyn Sevilla and Mabel Salivio with a 165. Cecile Esguerra and Vangie Apuhin had a 126 to claim the gross ladies title.

Sponsors division champion Marvin Mendoza and Bong Silva had a 270 to beat Andy Choi and Jae Won Lee, who notched a 274.

On the other hand, Jude Eustaquio made a hole in one at North Course no. 3 after hitting from 192 yards.

The tournament was presented by PLDT Enterprise.
