- JAMES KONSTANTIN GALVEZ

Police on Wednesday rescued a Taiwanese woman allegedly detained illegally by her Chinese supervisor inside a small room in an office in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City. In a text message, Southern Police District spokesman and Police Supt. Jenny Tecson said they received a report at about 11 p. m. on Monday on Neng Neng Tseng, 32, Taiwanese, a call center agent and a resident of 30Q, One Pacific Place, H. V. de la Costa Street, Barangay Bel- Air. The caller said Tseng was being detained inside a room at Unit 14D, 2251 lT Hub, Pasong Tamo Extension. Personnel of the Makati City Police Station ( MCPS) and the Investigation and Detective Management Section went to the address at about 3 a. m. on May 29. They saw the victim in a room being guarded by a “protection” agent. Tseng said she needs to pay P560,000 for a mistake she committed at work. She added that her boss, Song Xin Cheng, also known as Steve Song, a Chinese, hired two agents to guard her. The woman said her life would be danger if she failed to settle the amount. Song is a supervisor at Van Gogh Business Process Outsourcing Inc., an online gambling company located on the 14th floor, 2251 Wilcon lT Hub, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. The supervisor failed to provide proper documents for their online gambling operations. Thus, police also brought 11 other Chinese to the MCPS for further investigation and verification.
