LAST June, the World Bank released its Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes on Accounting and Auditing.

In its executive summary, the report mentioned that the Philippine government was looking to set policies “that promote equitable tax reform, enhanced market competitio­n, and improvemen­ts in the ease of doing business in the context of a sustainabl­e buildup of public infrastruc­ture investment and increased spending on social services.”

The Commission on Higher Education, recognizin­g the new needs of the profession, is overhaulin­g its related curricula. In the coming school year, it will introduce the following course offerings: a revised Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accountanc­y, BS in Accounting Informatio­n Systems, BS in Internal Audit, and BS in Management Accounting.
