NBI FILES CRIMINAL CASES VS REYES

- The Manila Times JOSEF T. RAMOS

THE National Bureau of Investigation ( NBI) has filed criminal cases against former Philippine Karatedo FederationNational Sports Association ( PKF- NSA) secretary- general Raymond Lee Reyes.

In a letter submitted to Philippine Sports Commission ( PSC) Chairman William Ramirez dated May 28, NBI agent Moises Tamayo informed the PSC that they have already transmitted the malversation of funds cases against Reyes to the Prosecutor’s Office of Manila last week.

Jayson Ramil Macaalay with fellow national karatedo team members Engene Stoner Dagohoy, John Paul Vejar, Miyuki Takay, Rexor Tacay and OJ Delos Santos filed a complaint against Reyes for allegedly short- changing them. The Philippine Sports Commission has allocated a training allowance of $ 1,800 to each of the 12 athletes and two coaches who went to Germany last July 20 to August 9, 2017 to train for the Malaysia SEA Games.

The group alleged that Reyes only gave them $470 each but were asked to sign receipts stating that $1,800 was disbursed to each member of the delegation.

“We are very happy that finally, a formal case has already been filed against him ( Reyes). We are the one who brought this out into the open,” Dagohoy told in a phone interview.

Reyes said he is ready prove his innocence.

“I did no wrong and I did not steal anything. I think this is the right time to defend myself,” the embattled sports official said. to
