Niall Horan, KZ Tandingan, Super Junior headline June concert scene

THE

month of May has been very impressive, concert scene-wise, and Music Geek is still having a hangover from the shows headlined by Harry Styles of One Direction, Bruno Mars, Ja Rule, Kehlani and Stephen Bishop.

Local acts—ZsaZsa Padilla, Richard Poon, Darren Espanto, Jake Zyrus and Ian Veneration—likewise fired up the stage with their splendid performanc­es affirming that Original Pilipino Music (OPM) is alive and well.

June is no different with a powerful line-up of both internatio­nal and home- grown artists including another ex- One Directione­r, a K-Pop group and the country’s first representa­tive to the popular Chinese reality show.

Boyce Avenue with Moira

Filipino favorite independen­t band Boyce Avenue comes back to the Philippine­s with concerts on tomorrow, 8 p.m, at the Araneta Coliseum; on June 2, 8 p.m. at the Waterfront Hotel Ballroom in Cebu City; and on June

3, 8 p.m. at SMX Convention Center, Lanang Premier in Davao City. Joining them is one of the most streamed local artist right now, Moira dela Torre.

The band is composed of the three Manzano brothers—Alejandro (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Fabian (guitar, vocals) and Daniel (bass, percussion, vocals). Formed in 2004, the Florida-based group started posting videos on YouTube sharing not only their original songs, but also their distinctiv­e acoustic covers with the world in 2007. They were here in 2016.

Air Supply Over Asia 2018

Legendary Australian soft rock duo Graham Russell and lead vocalist Russell Hitchcock will once again make Manila fall in love with their songs on tomorrow, 8 p.m. at Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila.

Their hits through the years include “Here I Am ( Just When I Thought I Was Over You), “All Out of Love.” “Now and Forever,” “Sweet Dreams,” “Lost In Love,” “Even The Nights Are Better,” “Two Less Lonely People In The World,” “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” and “Without You” among others. K-Pop invades Manila anew with Seungri of Bingbang together with NHR top DJs Glory and TPA as they perform at Cove Manila on June 2.

Andy Grammer Live In Manila

Multi-platinum selling pop artist Andy Grammer holds a special and intimate concert on June 7, 8 p.m. at the Music Museum. The pop star has taken the music world by storm with a succession of anthemic pop hits, including “Keep Your Head Up;” “Fine By Me;”“Magazines or Novelsm;”“Honey, I’m Good,” which was one of the best-selling songs of 2015; and the global smash hit “Fresh Eyes.”

Iisa: Johnoy Danao, Ebe Dancel, Bullet Dumas

Three of OPM’s most respected singer-composers Johnoy Danao, Ebe Dancel and Bullet Dumas get together once again to showcase their music at the Kia Theatre on June 9, 8 p.m. backed by the Manila String Machine Orchestra as well as a full band. They have teamed up before in a pair of shows called “Dama” and recorded for the film “I’m Drunk, I Love You.”

Niall Horan: Flicker World Tour 2018

Former One Direction member Niall Horan treats his Filipino fans with a solo concert on June 10, 8 p.m. at MOA Arena as part of his “Flicker World Tour.” His debut solo album “Flicker” has so far produced hits such as “This Town,” “Slow Hands,”“Too Much To Ask” and “On The Loose.”The concert is presented by MMI Live.

Callalily 13th anniversar­y concert

OPM band Callalily celebrates their 13th year via a concert on June 16, 7 p.m. at ABS-CBN Vertis Tent. Directed by John Prats and presented by Callalily Entertainm­ent, the band will showcase their hits including “Stars,” “M ag balik,”“S an ctuary,”“Su sun dan ,”“Ako’ y Babalik,” “Nananagini­p” and “Liwanag” among others.

Reminiscin­g Concert Series Featuring Julia Fordham

Julia Fordham returns to Manila for the fifth time in a one-night concert with Colin Ryan and NeoColours on June 22 at 8 p.m. at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila.

The British pop-jazz artist is stunning in her intimate live renditions of her hit songs, such as “Where Does Time Go,” “Love Moves in Mysterious Ways,” “Someone to Watch Over You,” “Invisible War,” “Loving You,” and “Girlfriend,” among many others. Her voice stands out even more when accompanie­d by a single guitar or piano. Her repertoire this time includes signature hits from the likes of Blondie, Eurythmics, Sting, The Beatles and Stevie Wonder.

Joey G celebrates three decades of music

OPM icon and former Side A vocalist Joey G celebrates three wonderful decades in the music industry via “Joey G…Beyond: 3 Decades of Music” featuring more than 30 years of hit songs Filipinos have loved through the years – from his Side A stint to his solo years. The concert will be held at The Theater at Solaire on June 22, 8 p.m. with Megastar Sharon Cuneta as special guest.

Supreme KZ Tandingan

Following her successful stint in “Singer 2018” in China, Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan holds a major concert on June 22, 8 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena with special guests Daryl Ong, Kyla, Jay-R, Moira Dela Torre, Gloc- 9, Jason Dy, and Iñigo Pascual.

The “X Factor Philippine­s” winner is best known for her hit single “Mahal Mo O Mahal Ako.” She recently won two awards in the 2018 Myx Music Awards: Favorite Urban Video for “Labo” and Favorite Media Soundtrack for “Two Less Lonely People in the World” (theme song of the film “Kita Kita”). The concert is presented by Cornerston­e Events and Star Events.

Powerhouse IV Hajji: Ako at Ang Aking Musika

The original “Kilabot ng Kolehiyala” celebrates 45 years in the industry with a concert on June 23, 8 p.m. at The Theatre at Solaire. Special guests include Rachel Alejandro, Rey Valera, Marco Sison and Celeste Legaspi. Presented by Lucky 7 Koi Production Inc. in cooperatio­n with Solaire Resort and Casino.

Scandal Asia Tour 2018 ‘Honey’ in Manila

Japan’s No. 1 all-female rock band, Scandal will finally perform in the Philippine­s for the very first time on June 24 at SMX Convention Center, giving their fans in Manila the opportunit­y to hear the songs from their newest album, “Honey.” A day earlier, on June 23, Haruna, Mami, Tomomi and Rina will treat their supporters and admirers in a meet-and- greet event at the same venue.

Super Junior World Tour ‘Super Show 7’ in Manila

Recently awarded with “Internatio­nal Video of the Year” in the 2018 Myx Music Awards for their song “Black Suit,” Korea’s most popular boyband Super Junior is coming back to Manila on June 30, 8 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Dubbed as the “King of Hallyu Wave,” they were in Manila five years ago for their “Super Show 5” concert after their first performanc­e in 2010. The seven active members Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Siwon and Donghae are set to give their Filipino fans another spectacula­r show with latest tracks from their album “Play” and “Replay” (extended version of “Play”) and perform their hits like “Bonamana”, “Mr. Simple” and “Sorry Sorry.” Presented by SM Entertainm­ent, Label SJ, Dream Maker Entertainm­ent and Pulp Live World.
