P252M allotted for Vizcaya roads
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: The allotment of P252 million for the construction of a 7.7-kilometer road from Sitio Paoac of Barangay Masoc, Bayombong, to Sitio Awa of Barangay Poblacion, Ambaguio, is a dream come true for the indigenous people (IP) living in these two upland municipalities in Nueva Vizcaya.
The project includes a P95-million road building from the capital town of Bayombong to Ambaguio upland town and a P157-million provincial road concreting in Dupax del Sur, Bayombong and Kayapa.
“This will benefit not only motorists but also farmers and gardeners particularly in Ambaguio town as it will make their travel time shorter and they will be able to transport their farm produce at speed down to the premier towns of Bayombong, Bambang and Solano,” Nueva Vizcaya Gov. Carlos Padilla said,
Provincial officials said upland farmers have been suffering losses because of the perennial problem of muddy, unpassable roads during the rainy season and during typhoons when landslides occur.
Padilla said the BayombongAmbaguio project, which will be completed in October, was granted after the provincial government qualified for the Conditional Matching Grant Project (CMGP) for being a recipient of the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping under the Department of the Interior and Local Government´s (DILG) Seal of Good Local Governance.
In 2016, the CMGP started as a Konkreto at Ayos na Lansangan ang Daan Tungo sa Pangkalahatan Kaunlaran (Kalsada) program to help local government units in progressively improving road conditions.
Padilla said this is done by providing technical and capacity development assistance to provinces through training, monitoring and coaching on local road management as well as funding for road upgrade and rehabilitation.
