UBISOFT Philippines marked another milestone it it’s continued expansion in the country by unveiling their brand new game development studio in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Located inside the De La Salle University Laguna Campus, Ubisoft will also bring more opportunities for aspiring video game developers, creative professionals and students by helping improve the world-class curriculum courses for Video Game Development and Game Art & Design.

The new game development studio is the first and only facility in the Philippines that will cater in developing AAA game titles, with local talents of Ubisoft Philippines helping co- develop high- end AAA video games in the past two years such as: Assassin’s Creed: Origins, The Crew 2, For Honor, and Skull & Bones.

“The Key to ubisoft’s success is one thing: the people,” said Chip Go, studio manager at Ubisoft Philippines. “The people who worked on those AAA games. And by AAA games, I mean games that are of high quality with fantastic production values. Ubisoft is continually pushing the quality of these games, making them bigger and better. The people who play our games, the communities, our players. The very reason we make our games. And our strategy to do this is to go where the talent is. That’s why we’re here.”

The new studio is designed to showcase one of the company’s important values: “serious about fun”. In line with the studio’s strong team ambition of developing games with “the most memorable experience for players” in mind, they have provided employees an environment that encourages creativity and collaboration. There are also spaces to relax and have fun. They even have a giant slide inside their studio that’s used for going between floors, gaming stations, and an open roof deck for barbeques and events.

“At Ubisoft Philippines, we take fun seriously and our new studio is the embodiment of this motto,” said Go. “Our staff pushes the quality bar to international standards, and we are more than happy to provide them with an environment that is conducive to creativity, collaboration, and self-expression. This is reflected in our office architecture, such as the open-floor design and the breakout spaces which promote communication and fosters teamwork.”

Ubisoft Philippines has also partnered with PasserellesNumeriques, a French NGO that specializes in providing I.T. training to underprivileged children in Cebu. The company has sponsored 10 students so far under this program.

The company is consistently expanding their presence in the country and they are aiming to hire up to 200 game developer s in the coming years. Current openings are available for artists, programmers, project managers, and many more said Suzy Belizario, talent acquisition manager at Ubisoft Philippines.

They are committed to train their staff to become globally competitive as they conduct regular training sessions with international experts and they also have training opportunities around the world. Since 2016, Ubisoft Philippines has sent dozens of employees to international studios in Paris, Montreal, Singapore, and Chengdu for training and learning experiences in the gaming industry.

“Filipinos looking to get into game development now have the opportunity to work for a world-class game developer right on our home soil,” said Belizario. “We are always looking for fresh talent who can contribute to our team’s continued success and who can be a part of the AAA games we are developing.”
