Seven NBA teams interested in Butler

- BY EDDIE G. ALINEA

A FEW days after Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor indicated the team is ready to trade Jimmy Butler, six clubs - Houston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn, Detroit,

in landing the disgruntled All-Star.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported though that Butler’s three preferred destinations are the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks.

All three, Wojnarowski said, have a lot of cap space to give Butler the maximum space to sign as a free agent in July.

As for Houston, the team doesn’t have much capital to engage in talks with Minnesota unless there’s a third team involved.

Plan is to receive offers for Butler over the next two days before reaching out to the All-Star and his agent as a

an extension and allow Minnesota to get the best possible return.

It’s worth noting that teams are interested in moving for Butler without a guarantee that he signs an extension.

All of this also comes on the heels of Minnesota signing center Karl-Anthony Towns to a super-max extension. Given Butler’s issues with KAT, it’s clear that his time in Minneapolis is coming to an end.

The announcement may be further indication that Butler is headed out of town soon. A report this week suggested that Towns, who clashed with

year in Minnesota, was delaying a decision on an extension until Butler’s fate was decided.

News first broke out that the Wolves were discussing an extension with Towns, and they have been waiting more than two months for the fourth-year center to accept their offer.
