Grab PH to ease driver disburseme­nts through Unionbank partnershi­p

GRAB Philippine­s has forged a partnershi­p with UnionBank of the Philippine­s to help make driver disburseme­nts easier through the use of the bank’s neo-banking platform, EON.

The ride- hailing company will now give all of its driver-partners EON cards through the partnershi­p, which allows them to avail all of EON’s banking services through its app, such as moving money, buy airtime load and credits for RFID, pay for purchases at stores accepting Visa, among others. Drivers will receive earnings and incentives on their EON accounts, which can be tracked through its app as well.

The driver can also lock his or her card to avoid theft and if a dubious transactio­n

text messages saying the account may have been compromise­d.

According to Grab Philippine­s country head Brian Cu, the partnershi­p is part of the company’s “Kita Ka Dito” program, which

literacy and welfare. The partnershi­p also al- literacy workshops to Grab drivers and their loved ones in Metro Manila and Cebu.

“As Grab moves forward to become the everyday app for consumers, it also aims to empower the lives of 100 million micro-entreprene­urs and driver-partners,” Cu said in a statement.

EON Banking Group head Paolo Baltao said that there will be more projects to come through the partnershi­p.

“We intend to deepen the relationsh­ip with Grab and its Grab Peers [drivers], and give them a full customer life cycle offering. The partnershi­p does not start and end with payments,” Baltao added.
