Isko Moreno chal­lenges Erap for may­oralty

RE­SIGNED De­part­ment of So­cial Wel­fare and De­vel­op­ment un­der­sec­re­tary Fran­cisco “Isko Moreno” Do­magoso on Fri­day filed his cer­tifi­cate of can­di­dacy (CoC) for mayor of Manila.

Do­magoso, who is chal­leng­ing in­cum­bent Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada, is run­ning with in­cum­bent Manila Vice Mayor Honeylet La­cuna, un­der the ban­ner of Asenso Manileño.

He is ex­pected to con­tend with ex­pe­ri­enced politi­cians, Al­fredo Lim, for­mer mayor of the coun­try’s cap­i­tal and in­cum­bent Mayor Estrada.

Do­magoso, who is more pop­u­larly known by his screen name Isko Moreno, sub­mit­ted his res­ig­na­tion let­ter to Pres­i­dent Ro­drigo Duterte at 4 p.m. on Thurs­day. He served at the DSWD only for five months.

Do­magoso won sev­eral times as coun­cilor and vice mayor of Manila.

He served as vice mayor of Manila from 2007 to 2016.

He re­called his plan to vie for the may­oralty when ousted pres­i­dent Joseph Estrada, ran as mayor in the 2016 lo­cal polls, and tried to vie for a Se­nate seat in­stead but lost.
