Isko Moreno challenges Erap for mayoralty
RESIGNED Department of Social Welfare and Development undersecretary Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Friday filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) for mayor of Manila.
Domagoso, who is challenging incumbent Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada, is running with incumbent Manila Vice Mayor Honeylet Lacuna, under the banner of Asenso Manileño.
He is expected to contend with experienced politicians, Alfredo Lim, former mayor of the country’s capital and incumbent Mayor Estrada.
Domagoso, who is more popularly known by his screen name Isko Moreno, submitted his resignation letter to President Rodrigo Duterte at 4 p.m. on Thursday. He served at the DSWD only for five months.
Domagoso won several times as councilor and vice mayor of Manila.
He served as vice mayor of Manila from 2007 to 2016.
He recalled his plan to vie for the mayoralty when ousted president Joseph Estrada, ran as mayor in the 2016 local polls, and tried to vie for a Senate seat instead but lost.
