Evangelista assumes PMA post
MAJ. Gen. Ronnie Evangelista has officially assumed his position as superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy ( PMA) after turnover rites on Friday at Fort Gregorio del Pilar in Baguio City.
Evangelista succeeded Maj. Gen. Donato San Juan 2nd, who retired on Friday on his 56th birthday.
“As both the manager and a leader, you have to look after the welfare of your men, and most importantly, the accomplishment of your mission — no compromise,” Evangelista said in his speech.
Prior to his appointment, Evangelista was the commander of the AFP Special Operations Command. He also headed the Philippine Army Special Operations Command.
San Juan served the Army for more than 38 years.
Under his leadership, the PMA Cadet Recruitment Program saw improvement, with an all- time high record of 28,336 qualified applicants for the cadet examination in 2018.
“I thank team PMA for their support and camaraderie. I know you will give the same support to my successor, Maj. Gen. Evangelista, whom I have known for two decades. PMA deserves only the best,” San Juan said.
