BREAKING NEWS: Just as Showbuzz was wrapping up this column, word that Kyline Alcantara won Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series for GMA Network’s “Kambal, Karibal” suddenly came through, all the way from France!

The organizers of the debuting Asian Academy Creative Awards ( AACA) announced their first ever set of winners at no less than the Cannes Film Festival. Winners were chosen per country, and from there, an international competition will ensue among the recognized creatives from various Asian countries.

The grand awards ceremony will be held in a two-night gala on December 6 and 7 at the historic Capitol Theater in Singapore.

Besides Kyline, other national winners — programs and personalities included — have been announced from the Philippines. Showbuzz should have the complete list soon for reporting at The Manila Times. Congratulations Kyline!

Still on the winning actress, it is heartening for her fans to know that while Kyline’s star keeps shooting up, she never forgets to share her blessings with those in need.

On Sunday, in fact, she visited Oplan Shelter Home in Quezon City, which is currently home to more than 100 juvenile delinquents eager start their lives over. Joining her were Filipino-American Raval brothers, Martin (17) and Marvin (10), who made news back home in Florida with their “Do The Right Thing” campaign. They were praised in their community for encouraging fellow youths to do good in their young lives, by letting go of their personal things like tablets and toys to wayward and problematic children.

Inspiring others to do the same has brought Martin and Marvin all the way to the Philippines where both their parents were born and raised. Armed with donations from the Filipino community in Florida, they zeroed in on the young residents Oplan Shelter Home, to give hope to children as young as six years old who have al

Backtracking a bit more before their trip to Manila, the brothers said they wanted to seek the help of a young and influential personality in reaching out to the home, in order to intensify their campaign.

Linking up with the Filipina celebrity via social media, Martin and Marvin were uncertain whether Kyline could actually join them at Oplan shelter, not because she was unwilling, but because her schedule was packed.

to Manila as scheduled and happily received a text from Kyline at the very last minute she moved heaven and earth to clear her schedule to join them for the meaningful outreach.

Happily, at the very last minute, they received a text message from Kyline.

And as they expected, the singer- actress was a hit among the youth at the shelter as she helped them distribute gift packs, and of course, when she sang acapella for the everyone.

“I’m so amazed not only by her popularity but her kindness and down- to- earth ways,” Martin exclaimed.

For her part, Kyline was thankful to the boys, not only for their compliment, but for giving her the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Oplan’s young residents.

And given their winning teamup, the Raval brothers and Kyline are looking forward to doing more charity work together in the near future, and keeping a friendship across the seas, bound by compassionate hearts.

A fresh start is how Rayver Cruz considers his GMA comeback, and one that has already given him two shows in a short matter of time. He is one of the leads in a new afternoon soap, “Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko,” premiering on Monday, and the Sunday night variety show, “Studio 7.”

“I feel so blessed,” Rayver enthused. “The projects I’ve been given are very good. Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko is a unique love story, where I play Gavin, who is torn between a man and a woman. My other show, Studio 7, showcases my performer side in dancing, singing and hosting.”

On both sets, Rayver is grateful to work with very welcoming stars. “They never make me feel alienated. Like ‘yung pakikipagtrabaho Kris Bernal and Thea Tolentino in our soap, they made me feel at home.”

Another co-star Rayver is eager to work with is Lotlot De Leon, mother of his rumored girlfriend Janine Gutierrez. They’ve already done a few scenes together where the actor confessed to have been all jittery.

do. I was so nervous kasi even if I’m close to her, Miss Lotlot De Leon ‘yan. I have to really be prepared every time. I asked her na

lang to help me which is exactly what she did.”

Asked how close they are exactly, Ravyer sheepishly admitted he often asks her to bring food to work.

“She’s such a good cook kasi, and kahit hindi sa set, I’d just text her, ‘Ate Lot, lutuan mo naman ako ng adobo!’” he chuckled.
