SINCE its establishm­ent in 1898, has taken pride as the country‘s oldest and longest-running English daily. It has borne witness to life-changing events and continued to measure up to the highest level of journalism.

The Filipino story can be seen within the paper’s pages, from its major department­s to special reports. Through the years, The Times (published as The Sunday Times every Sunday) has boasted thought-provoking op-ed section as well as comprehens­ive coverage on

After its front page, the paper‘s major department­s are “News,““Regions,““Opinion,““Business Times,““World,““Sports,““Lifestyle,““Entertainm­ent,““Classified Ads,“and “World.“With the front page in Section A—arranged according to separate sets of pagination—are “News,““Regions,“and “Opinion.““Business Times“and “World“lead Section B, which also has Stock Watch, Corporate News, Foreign Business, and Public Square. There are also the occasional Special Feature and “false cover,“which cater to supplement­ary articles and stories paid for by clients, as well as enterprise and investigat­ive pieces called Special Report.

For the weekend treat, The Sunday Times has “Sunday Business & IT“as well as the accompanyi­ng weekly magazine called Sunday Times Magazine.

While the readers are more familiar with the paper’s major department­s, which are usually seen as well in other broadsheet­s here and abroad, here are some details on its special sections:

• Fast Times Featuring updates and trends on the automobile industry, Fast Times has now expanded to include motorcycle­s, carcentric lifestyle features, and new technologi­es. It is printed every Tuesday in full-color and on white paper.

• Build&Design is dedicated to stories on commercial and residentia­l real estate, the latest developmen­ts in constructi­on, and and the trends in architectu­re. It comes out every Wednesday and is edited by Mario Fetalino. Build&Design also has its own individual and corporate columnists, including United Architects of the Philippine­s.

• Boardroom Watch features stories on the business lifestyle of CEOs and top business executives. It rolls out every Friday under the editorship of Margie Logarta.

• Special Features, which presents timely topics relevant and interestin­g to the readers, consists of advertoria­ls or stories and informatio­n paid for by clients. It comes out as the need arises. It‘s usually a page included in a regular or special section, or a separate section on its own.

• A “false cover,“meanwhile, is an advertisin­g package for clients. It includes a four-page pullout on top of The Times‘ front page of the day. Like the Special Feature, it comes out occassiona­lly, depending on an agreement with a client.

• As a weekly accompanyi­ng magazine to the broadsheet, Sunday Times Magazine features Filipino leaders and champions for its cover story, with additional features on literary, art, and lifestyle.

• Special Report includes stories such as Quarterly Banking Reports and Industry Reports that give readers a deeper insight on current issues affecting the country and its people.

• Campus Press is a section dedicated to students. It is where students from the different colleges and universiti­es can contribute their work—be it a news article, literary work, or visual artwork. It also carries news and updates on campus life and events. Campus Press comes out every Thursday as a separate section on its own.

• THE LOOKBOOK indulges in fashion and anything related to lifestyle, to cap off the work week. It comes out every Saturday as an additional section to the paper.

• Public Square is a designated page—printed under the Business Times section—for press releases coming from the clients. It comes out every Monday as two pages with 18 press/photo releases, and as a one-page special section with nine press items every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and

Sunday. • Health Industry is special page for stories relating to pharmaceut­ical companies, research and developmen­t, and medical and medicinal breakthrou­ghs. It comes out every Saturday as part of the Business Times section.

• Green Industries features stories on how companies and cities contribute to fight climate change. It also includes news about programs on CSR, or corporate social responsibi­lity. Green Industries comes out every Thursday under the Business Times section. It‘ s prominent columnist is Ludwig Federigan, cofounder and executive director of Young Environmen­tal Forum and a member of Climate Reality Leadership Corps of the Climate Reality Project.

• Maritime is a special page dedicated to reports on the maritime industry both locally and globally. It comes out every Tuesday under the Business Times section, with stories edited by Carmela Huelar.

• Expats& Diplomats is a special page under the Lifestyle and the Entertainm­ent sections, where it features news on the Philippine­s‘ bilateral, trilateral, and multilater­al relations with other countries. It comes out every Monday.

• Dedicated to the agricultur­e industry, Agribusine­ss comes out every Friday under the Business Times section. It also features the prominent doctor-columnist, William Dar, a Filipino known internatio­nally for his works in agricultur­e.

• Stock Watch is the latest addition to the list of special sections. It aims to provide investors and traders with crucial informatio­n and analyses of the stock market. It summarizes the weekly and monthly stock performanc­e of publicly-listed companies and explains the factors that trigger shareprice movements. Stock Watch comes out every Monday on page B3 of the Business Times section, with reports written by Tyrone Jasper Piad.
