Ministerial Forum pushes for regional cooperation

Asian Seas signed the Ministerial Declaration on “East Asian Region Moving as One to Secure Healthy Oceans, People and Economies,” during the 6th Ministerial Forum.The 2018 Ministerial Declaration outlines eight new commitments towards a sustainable future, among which includes developing blue economy investments, pursuing achievement of 25 percent coverage of the region’s coastline under integrated coastal management, and adopting and implementing ICM national laws and policies.The forum also witnessed the presentation of the Regional and National State of Oceans and Coasts Reports, which recognizes the efforts made by countries at the regional and national levels with their blue economy initiatives, as well as lessons learned. The Ministerial Forum is a three-day international conference that serves as an opportunity for concerned government ministers of the region to meet and engage in policy dialogue.
