AS part of the city’s cam­paign against il­le­gal drugs in the work­place, Que­zon City Vice Mayor Joy Bel­monte re­ported a total of 23,377 lo­cal gov­ern­ment employees and barangay

manda­tory drug test­ing be­tween 2016 and 2018.“We want a safe and healthy work en­vi­ron­ment for all work places in Que­zon City. That’s why we started pro­mot­ing the drugfree work­place right here in our

- lages (barangay),” shared Bel­monte, who also chairs the Que­zon City Anti-Drug Abuse Ad­vi­sory Coun­cil (QCADAAC). The drug tests were im­ple­mented in ac­cor­dance to Or­di­nance No. SP-2460, S-2015, also known as the Que­zon City DrugFree Work Place Or­di­nance, which man­dates the con­duct of au­tho­rized

gov­ern­ment, in­clud­ing of­fices in the city’s 142 vil­lages. Ac­cord­ing to the or­di­nance, the drug test­ing is aimed at in­sti­tut­ing “pre­ven­tive mea­sures against drug abuse for pur­poses of elim­i­nat­ing its haz­ards in the work­place.”
