23,377 QC govt employees complete mandatory drug testing
AS part of the city’s campaign against illegal drugs in the workplace, Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte reported a total of 23,377 local government employees and barangay
mandatory drug testing between 2016 and 2018.“We want a safe and healthy work environment for all work places in Quezon City. That’s why we started promoting the drugfree workplace right here in our
- lages (barangay),” shared Belmonte, who also chairs the Quezon City Anti-Drug Abuse Advisory Council (QCADAAC). The drug tests were implemented in accordance to Ordinance No. SP-2460, S-2015, also known as the Quezon City DrugFree Work Place Ordinance, which mandates the conduct of authorized
government, including offices in the city’s 142 villages. According to the ordinance, the drug testing is aimed at instituting “preventive measures against drug abuse for purposes of eliminating its hazards in the workplace.”
