CEBU VENDOR YIELDS P2.1-M SHABU
A HIGH-VALUE target for illegal drugs, posing as a vegetable vendor, yielded more than P2 million worth of suspected shabu when arrested in a buy-bust in Cebu City on Sunday.
Chief Insp. Regino Maramag, station commander of Pardo Police Station, said a poseur buyer bought a medium pack of shabu for P14,000 from Elvie Peter Mandreza, 31, in Sitio Kauswagan, Barangay Basak Pardo, in Cebu City at past midnight on Saturday.
He told that Mandreza is tagged as a high-value target and could dispose millions worth of shabu every week in Cebu City, especially in Barangay Mambaling.
Seized from Mandreza were two more small sachets and three large packs of shabu, weighing about 310 grams with an estimated street value of P2.108 million.
Mandreza, who was under surveillance for about three weeks, told police that he has been in the illegal drugs trade for a long time.
“He (Mandreza) and his live-in partner pose as vegetable vendors in Carbon public market (in Cebu City) as their front,” Maramag added.
Mandreza, who did not resist arrest, is detained at the Pardo Police Station.
