DOST brings science exhibit to Masbate
IN a bid to vigorously promote science and technology in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA), the Department of Science and Technology (DoST), in cooperation with Department of Education (DepEd) Masbate Province and City Divisions and the Local Government Units of Masbate City and Aroroy, will bring the Science Works exhibit of the Philippine Science Centrum to Masbate.
The exhibit, acknowledged by DepEd as a K-12 compliant, ran
Coliseum on Jan. 9 to 12, while its second is slated on Jan. 21 to Feb. 4 at Aroroy Gymnasium.
Through a grant, DOST has provided funding support to the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology (PFST), who manages and operate the Philippine Science Centrum, to bring a “science learning beyond the classroom” experience through the exhibit to about 200,000 pupils and students in selected GIDA provinces.
The exhibit in Masbate is composed of 40 sets in the areas of chemistry, mechanics, vision and perception, electricity and magnetism, lights, and mathematics. A total of 20,000 pupils and students are targeted to view the exhibit in the province, which is expected to be fun and science- full of learnings.
