DOST brings sci­ence ex­hibit to Mas­bate

IN a bid to vig­or­ously pro­mote sci­ence and tech­nol­ogy in Ge­o­graph­i­cally Iso­lated and Dis­ad­van­taged Ar­eas (GIDA), the Depart­ment of Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy (DoST), in co­op­er­a­tion with Depart­ment of Ed­u­ca­tion (DepEd) Mas­bate Prov­ince and City Di­vi­sions and the Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Units of Mas­bate City and Aro­roy, will bring the Sci­ence Works ex­hibit of the Philip­pine Sci­ence Cen­trum to Mas­bate.

Coli­seum on Jan. 9 to 12, while its sec­ond is slated on Jan. 21 to Feb. 4 at Aro­roy Gym­na­sium.

Through a grant, DOST has pro­vided fund­ing sup­port to the Philip­pine Foun­da­tion for Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy (PFST), who man­ages and op­er­ate the Philip­pine Sci­ence Cen­trum, to bring a “sci­ence learn­ing be­yond the class­room” ex­pe­ri­ence through the ex­hibit to about 200,000 pupils and stu­dents in se­lected GIDA prov­inces.

The ex­hibit in Mas­bate is com­posed of 40 sets in the ar­eas of chem­istry, me­chan­ics, vi­sion and per­cep­tion, elec­tric­ity and mag­netism, lights, and math­e­mat­ics. A to­tal of 20,000 pupils and stu­dents are tar­geted to view the ex­hibit in the prov­ince, which is ex­pected to be fun and sci­ence- full of learn­ings.
