Go rejects support of ‘narco-politicians’

-

FORMER special assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Monday said he would reject any support coming from “narco-politicians” in his Senate bid.

Go issued the statement during his visit to fire victims in Davao City as he reached out to the community of Barangay Daliao in Toril to give assistance and listen to their concerns.

Barangay Daliao in Davao City is the site of the January 8 fire which destroyed at least 34 houses that left 40 families homeless, injured two people and caused P400,000 damage to property.

In an ambush interview, Go dismissed speculations going the rounds in social media that some politicians included in the alleged narco-list submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte were offering support for his senatorial bid.

He said that while he was trying to win the support of the people, as well as of other local and national leaders, he did not want to have anything to do with politicians or community leaders linked to illegal drug trade.

“There will be no compromise with narco-politicians. I do not accept any support from them. If you are in narcopolitics, just stay away from me,” Go reiterated.

The former SAP has been drumming up support for the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs, crime and corruption.

He said he was humbled by the latest senatorial surveys that showed his big jump in the ranking, adding that it only served to inspire him to work harder in serving the Filipino people.

Meanwhile, Go and his supporters distributed clothes, shoes, grocery items, food packs and cash assistance to residents affected by the fire.

He also assured uniforms for fire-victim students and workers so they could go back to school and their workplaces as soon as possible.

Go told the residents that he would try to seek additional assistance from them from his former colleagues in the government agencies, including the National Housing Authority.

He said the fire victims could seek assistance from the Malasakit Center in the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.
