Taiwan extends visa-free travel to July 31

TAIWAN has extended the visafree travel privilege for Filipinos to July 31, 2019, a move intended to enhance the two countries’ bilateral relations, people- to- people exchange and cooperatio­n.

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau issued the statement as it opened the Taiwan Hall at the Travel Tour Expo 2019 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, which runs until February 10.

A total of 419,105 visitors from the Philippine­s went to Taiwan in 2018, up 44.13 percent compared with 2017.

The bureau said guests at the Taiwan Hall would find informatio­n on Taiwan’s latest travel products and experience “fun activities” at the event, including making handicraft­s and touring different destinatio­ns through virtual reality tours and augmented reality photos.

Music band Liu Sheng Ji is also set to perform using traditiona­l oriental instrument­s such as the bamboo flute, erhu and pipa to play western genres including rock, jazz, blues, R& B, funk and electronic music.

The Taiwan delegation is also set to visit Clark Freeport Zone for a business- to- business workshop on February 12 at the Royce Hotel Clark in Mabalacat, Pampanga to forge a closer bilateral relationsh­ip.
