‘Kara Mia’ curiosity finally begins tonight

-

THE buzz over prime time’s newest player has gone on full blast in the last few weeks, and the good news is that everyone will finally meet “Kara Mia” tonight.

With the public’s curiosity buoyed by memes on the net, the GMA Network series’ “real” characters — a pair of sisters with two different faces and two independent minds trapped in a single body — will come to life with Barbie Forteza and Mika dela Cruz leading the dramatic tale.

The story begins with the birth of Kara (Forteza) and Mia (dela Cruz), sisters born with craniofacial duplication (Disprosopus) — a rare congenital defect where supposed twins come out with two faces on one body. Kara’s face is in front, while Mia’s face is at the back of their head.

But even if they are “one” person, the two sisters cannot be more different. Kara is kind, jolly, smart, and aspires to be a doctor, believing it is this “defect” that makes her unique and special. She also loves her sister with all her heart.

Mia, on the other hand, the mischievous one . She i s is lazy, pessimistic, and dreams of being an actress. She is envious of Kara and wants nothing more than to be her own person. Bo th Forteza and dela Cruz are amazed at their characters themselves.

“Because Kara and Mia are so different, their views on life and about are also different. We ourselves have so many questions on what’s going to happen in the story, say one of them falls in love? We’re so curious about this series when we’re the ones in it!” said Forteza at a grand launch GMA Network organized for the promising series.

Dela Cruz, meanwhile, talked about how difficult taping their scenes are every time: “When Barbie and I have scenes ‘together,’ we talk to a blank space, and it gets all the more challenging when the scenes call for emotional exchanges since there’s no one in front of you. Portraying Kara and Mia’s parents are Carmina Villaroel and John Estrada, while the rest of the talented cast features Glydel Mercado, Mike Tan, Jak Roberto, Paul Salas, Liezel Lopez, Althea Ablan, Arthur Solinap, Karenina Haniel, April Gustilo and veteran actresses Alicia Alonzo and Gina Pareño. An all original creation of the GMA Entertainment Group, Kara Mia is directed by Dominic Zap a t a . The series premieres tonight on GMA Telebabad.
