Sy, Villar PH’s richest – Forbes

THE Sy siblings topped Forbes’ list of 50 richest Filipinos, having a combined net worth of P17.2 billion.

Teresita, Elizabeth, Henry Jr., Hans, Herbert and Harley inherited their fortune from their late father Henry Sy Sr., who topped the Philippine­s’ richest list for 11 years.

“Their combined net worth is comprised largely of stakes held in the group’s

publicly traded SM Inve s t - ments and SM Prime. SM traces its roots to Henry Sr., who sold overrun shoes in 1958 at a store in Manila he aptly called Shoemart,” Forbes magazine said.

Real estate tycoon and former senator Manuel Villar Jr. claimed the second spot with a net worth of $ 6.6 billion.

Villar is the chairman of Starmalls, one of the country’s largest mall operators, and Vista & Landscapes, the Philippine’s largest homebuilde­r.

John Gokongwei Jr., founder of JG Summit, which has interests in airlines, food and beverage, banks, power, and property ranked third with a net worth of $ 5.3 billion.

He was followed by Enrique Razon, who heads the Internatio­nal Container Terminals Services, the country’s leading terminal operator. Razon had a net worth of $ 5.1 billion.

Jaime Zobel de Ayala, the former chairman of the Ayala Group, took the fifth spot with a net worth of $ 3.7 billion.

The other businessme­n who made it to the top 10 in this year’s list are LT Group founder and Chairman Lucio Tan with a net worth of $ 3.6 billion; Jollibee Food founder and Chairman Tony Tan Caktiong, $3 billion; San Miguel Corp. President and Vice Chairman Ramon Ang, $ 2.8 billion; Ty siblings Arthur, Alfred, Alesandra and Anjanette, children of late banking tycoon George Ty, who founded Metrobank, $ 2.6 billion; and Alliance Global Chairman Andrew Tan, $ 2.55 billion.
