Ronnie Liang receives pin as solo pilot

POP balladeer Ronnie Liang is one celebrity who puts a premium on education. From being a fastfood server, he broke into showbiz with his singing voice but never let go of his lofty dream, which happily he just achieved.

“When I was a kid, pal agi kong na ki kit ayung ero plano na lu mi lip ads a ere. It old myself,sa tam angp ana hon, makakap ag lip add inako. Here I am now, fulfilling my greatest dream. Tuwingn ag pap ali pad ako, bi lang part eng pa ga aral asapilot,m ins anna giging emotional ako, mixed feelings. What a moment like that,” the singer-actor-pilot expressed.

Rejected multiple times, the Viva artist did not lose his drive to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot. After his sold out “Love x Romance” concert with Sarah Geronimo at the Music Museum on November 8, he finally got his pin from APG Internatio­nal Aviation Academy in Subic as a solo pilot on November 26.

He was joined by Capt. Christian Atanacio, Capt. John Corda, and school owner Capt. Arnel Miguel during the ceremony.

Formally starting his pilot course in October 2018, he finished the required hours for skills training in July. He is thankful that his mentors have been supportive of his endeavor as he was able to manage his time as an artist and aviation student.

Three of the main requiremen­ts before taken into the academy were good eyesight, attentiven­ess and a bachelor’s degree. Good that Liang has a Bachelor of Education Major in Science degree from the Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga.

“You have to pass the physical, mental and psychologi­cal exam. Napakahala­gang mgaitokasi­dapat physically, mentally and psychologi­cally capable ka. Then yung time mo.Kailanganm­ong time and budget. Ang pagpa- pilot is very expensive. You really have to prepare,” he shared.

Liang believes there really is no deadline when it comes to achieving one’s dreams.

“I believe that you can pursue your dreams at any point in your life. You have to listen to yourself. Mar a ming mg a mags a sabina hindi mo kay a,pero ikawp arin ang pilot ong bu hay mo, ang mag dad ala Of course with the help of prayers and family and friends who are always there to support you.”

After passing solo test, he’s preparing now for a private license that requires him to complete 40 hours of flying, he can apply for commercial license.

“I’m now preparing myself paramag- private and siyempre going to commercial narin. I feel naitoang calling ko. I am 100 percent fully myselfkapa­gn ag pa pa lip adako ,” he said.

He clarified that he’s not leaving showbiz. He will continue singing and acting. His collab song with Sarah G called “Liwanag” is available on Spotify and other digital music platforms.

In time for the holidays, another new song Ronnie did is“S aP as kong Dara ting ,” a touching Christmas ditty destined to be a future Yuletide favorite.

“Nakakatuwa­na people are calling me The Singing Pilot. I hope mar a mi pa a kong ma inspire n aka bataan ,” he ended.
