HUSBAND OF PANGASINAN MAYOR SHOT DEAD
ROSALES, Pangasinan: A village head and husband of the incumbent mayor here was gunned down on Tuesday morning. Provincial Police Director Col. Redrico Maranan said Reynaldo Licudo- Casareno was the incumbent barangay chairman of Tumana East and husband of Mayor Susan Casareno. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and did not make it alive at a nearby hospital, according to Rosales Police chief Major John Corpuz. Maranan ordered Corpuz to conduct investigation for the immediate solution of the case. “We are not tolerating this kind of criminal acts committed by suspected gun for hire groups and I am ordering the PNP (Philippine National Police) in Pangasinan to cultivate information and search for witnesses who can give information that will help the police in solving the case,” he said. Corpuz said the shooting incident was reported to the police station by Lindo Licudo, also incumbent Punong Barangay in Casanicolasan and cousin of the fallen victim. Recovered from the crime scene are five empty shells and live bullets of caliber 45 pistol. The suspects immediately escaped on board a motorcycle after the shooting, according to witnesses. It could be recalled that the victim led the prayer rally in ousting the former chief of police of Rosales town who conducted a series of raids in the houses of suspected drug personalities including the
barangay officials for keeping unlicensed firearms and tagged as protectors of suspected drug pushers in 2016. Casareno is also identified as political leader of former Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste who ran for governor against incumbent Gov. Amado Espino 3rd in the midterm elections this year.
