World-class Yulo delivers gold anew
CARLOS YULO lived up to his lofty billing as
gold medal but saw his golden sweep bid end in the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) on Tuesday at
Yulo smoothly executed his routine to topscore with 14.700 points on the apparatus that vaulted him to fame and his Olympic aspirations.

Yulo made sure not to waste the effort of the home fans who braved heavy rains brought about by typhoon Tisoy to witness his world-class performance.
Yulo also impressed the top honchos in world gymnastics including Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) president Morinari Watanabe and Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU) president Abdul Rahman Al-Shathri.
His seven- gold sweep bid, though, got derailed as he settled for silver medals in the pommel horse and still rings.
Yulo looked to be on his way to a second gold for the day and third overall with 13.233 points until Malaysia’s Tan Fu Jie drew 13.967 points to steal the spotlight. Vietnam’s Dinh Phuong Thanh nabbed the bronze with 12.867 points.
Same went on the still rings as Yulo hit 13.733 points to remain on top of the scoreboard only to see Vietnam’s Dang Nam snatch the
scored 13.733 for a silver as well.
