25 K march vs illegal drugs in Legazpi City

A RALLY against drug abuse in this city drew almost 25,000 participan­ts, pushing for more aggressive actions against illegal drugs during the observance of the Drug Abuse Awareness and Prevention Week.

The three-kilometer foot parade in the main thoroughfa­re of Rizal Street down to the Penaranda Park was participat­ed in by the personnel

Enforcemen­t Agency (PDEA) as well the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, government employees, non-government organizati­ons, students of different Universiti­es and Colleges and barangay leaders.

Mayor Noel Rosal said the huge turnout of participan­ts in this year’s anti-drug rally was a clear testimony that Legazpinos were

to make this city a peaceful and free from any illegal drug activities.

“We are now in the 8th years of doing this kind of campaign in order to save the lives of the younger generation­s and not to destroy their future for being a victim of illegal drugs, it would also serve as an informatio­n tool to the public and make them more aware of the ill effects of this dangerous substance,” Rosal pointed out.

He noted that the City Anti Drug Abuse Council has spearheade­d community-based rehabilita­tion to drug victims as one way of giving them an opportunit­y to bring their lives back to normal.

Rosal asked the PDEA and the PNP to continue the illegal drug campaign in this city as part of the support to the Duterte Administra­tion to wipe out the drug addiction problem and make this country a drug free territory.

On the other hand, Ricardo Santiago, PDEA Deputy Director General for Administra­tion, said that Legazpi is one of the most active localities that spearheade­d the “as part of the campaign against illegal drugs.
