20th IYAS writers' workshop calls for applications
THE University of St. La Salle (USLS) and the Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC) of De La Salle University (DLSU) now welcome applications to the 20th IYAS La Salle National Writers’ Workshop, to be held at USLS’ Balay Kalinungan in Bacolod City, Negros Occidential province, from May 17 to 22, 2020.
USLS and BNSCWC organized the workshop with the support of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts and the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities.
This year’s workshop director is Dr. Marjorie Evasco. The workshop panel is composed of Grace Monte de Ramos, Susan Lara, D.M. Reyes, Isidoro Cruz and Em Mendez. Joining them are Elsa Martinez Coscoluella, Ronald Baytan and IYAS Project Coordinator Rayboy Pandan.
The workshop fellowship screening committee accepts creative works in Hiligaynon, Cebuano, Kinaray-a, Filipino and English. Entries that explore human relations with the environment will be given preference. Twelve applicants will be chosen for the fellowships, which are awarded by genre and language. Transportation subsidy and board and lodging are included in the fellowships. Application requirements: — Original, unpublished works in only one chosen literary genre and language: six poems, two short stories or two one- act plays. — Works must be in three computer-encoded hard copies, font size 12 points, double- spaced; and — A short resumé, with a page containing the applicant’s ID photo and complete contact information (home address, email address, contact number).
