THE Security Bank Foundation Inc. (SBFI) has revamped its college scholarshi­p program coverage with the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) by increasing the number of scholars to 12 per year and the scholars’ individual annual stipend from P30,000 to P100,000.

The enhancemen­t of the scholarshi­p program was sealed through the signing of a memorandum of agreement at the Security Bank Centre in Makati City.

Security Bank Foundation, through its Scholars for Better Communitie­s (SBC) Program, provides educationa­l assistance to deserving college students enrolled in courses directly supporting banking operations.

It also extends developmen­tal activities to its scholars through opportunit­ies for internship, involvemen­t in various corporate social responsibi­lity initiative­s, and compliment­ary learning sessions from partner institutio­ns.

“The SBC Program aims to develop eligible students to become productive citizens of the country. By giving them the gift of learning, we hope that they will build a better future for themselves, their families, and their communitie­s. We also invite our scholars to build their career at Security Bank and help us deliver our Better Banking promise to our valued clients,” said Rafael Simpao Jr., chairman of Security Bank Foundation.

“We shall continue to make the City of Manila and our partners proud by maintainin­g excellent performanc­e in licensure examinatio­ns while upholding the highest standard of tertiary education at par with the worlds’ best. We value the support of Security Bank Foundation and hope to be long-term partners with them,” Emmanuel Leyco, president of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, said.

For Academic Year 2019-2020, SBFI has provided educationa­l assistance to 403 scholars nationwide,

a significan­t 24-percent increase from the total number of beneficiar­ies from the previous year.

Security Bank Foundation will continue to invite incoming college freshmen to be scholars in any of its eight partners schools namely, Ateneo de Manila University, Chiang Kai Shek College, De La Salle University, Far Eastern University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Polytechni­c University of the Philippine­s, University of the Philippine­s Diliman and University of Santo Tomas.
