Go cited the DoH’s 4S strategy against dengue to bolster awareness and prevention from the mosquito-borne disease.
“Comb and destroy all the mosquitos’ nest. Protect yourselves from mosquitos. See a doctor immediately if you have symptoms of dengue. And support defogging and spraying if there are threats of an outbreak,” he said
“Bagama’tmayulatang DoH ngpagbabangkasong dengue sabansa, manatiliparintayong maging vigilant sa dengue atibang uringsakit, lalonasapanahon ng Covid-19 (While the DoH has reported a downtrend on dengue cases, we must continue to be vigilant against dengue and other illnesses amid the Covid-19 crisis),” Go continued.
The Health department recently reported that the number of dengue cases from January to May was lower by 46 percent than the figure during the same period last year.
According to the DoH Health Promotion and Communication Service, the decrease in dengue cases could be attributed to vector management, increased awareness and community participation.
“It is vital that everyone is informed about the status of our communities with regards to the trends of the incidence of these diseases so that our LGUs (local government units) should take the necessary actions to avoid the occurrence of other outbreaks that will compound our problems in dealing with the Covid-19 situation,” Go said.
