SEN. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go has urged the Department of Health and other concerned government agencies to improve their communication efforts and disseminate only the right information to the public

“We need timely, accurate and relevant information on Covid-19-related updates and initiatives to strengthen the country’s collective efforts to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic,” Go, chairman of the Senate health and demography committee, said.

The senator also encouraged government officials to consult more experts from various fields and involve groups that are willing to share their expertise.

He said a whole-of-nation approach was needed to overcome the ongoing crisis caused by Covid-19, or the coronavirus disease 2019.

“This pandemic needs a whole- of- nation approach. It is important that we involve and consult our experts from all fields and open the doors to those who want to help and share their expertise,” Go added.

Previously, he promised that he would continue to engage with various sectors and assure them that their voices will be heard by the government.

”We are open to suggestions from the doctors, economists and others who want to help. Let’s listen to concerns of the different groups such as the medical community,” Go said.

“Our decisions depend on accurate information based on science and from the health experts. Let’s help our countrymen make the right decision for their families such as the decision that the President and the government are doing for the welfare of all Filipinos,” he said in a previous statement.

On Monday, August 3, Go expressed his support for the adoption of Senate Resolution 483, which calls for the Senate to act as a Senate Committee of the Whole to conduct an inquiry into the state of the health of the nation.

The inquiry will center on the status, capability and plan to combat the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.
