Bong Go leads virtual launch of 78th Malasakit Center
BULACAN: Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go virtually launched the 78th Malasakit Center in the country along with top local officials here and concerned government agencies at Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital (RMMMH) in Sta. Maria town on Tuesday afternoon.
It was Bulacan’s second Malasakit Center, the fourth center in Region 3 (Central Luzon) and 78th all over the country.
The two other centers are based in Bataan and Pampanga.
The Malasakit Center is a program of the Duterte administration aimed at serving as a “one- stop shop’” medical center to speed up delivery of medical services to the poor and give them access to free medicines.
The inauguration of Bulacan’s second Malasakit Center was also attended by local officials of Bulacan headed by Gov. Daniel Fernando, who urged residents to avail of the program.
Also presents during the opening are Sta Maria Mayor Russel Pleyto, councilor Fe Ramos and RMMMH head Dr. Dave Domingo.
During his virtual speech, Go said patients particularly indigents confined in hospitals with Malasakit Centers could avail of medical assistance from various partners from the government agencies such as the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., among others, which aim to help beneficiaries have a “zero balance” on their medical expenses.
Fernando and the local officials thanked the senator for a P10-million medical assistance to the 2nd Bulacan Malasakit Center that was received by the RMMMH.
“Dont thank me, it is the taxes paid to the government, These are your funds, these are government funds which President [ Rodrigo] Duterte returns to you, “Go said.
The first Malasakit Center in the province is located at the Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos City and was launched in 2018.
