SM Supermalls answers FAQs on MECQ

-

SM has issued an official statement in answer to queries about the operations of its malls while Metro Manila and the surrounding provinces of Rizal, Bulaca, Cavite and Laguna are reverted to modified enhanced community quaranrtine (MECQ) from August 4 until August 18,

For its readiness, SM said all Supermalls are very prepared for MECQ as they have created many ways their customers can shop for essentials even from their car or home.

“But in case they really have to go to our malls, we assure everyone that our establishments are safe, clean, and regularly maintained and sanitized as we continue to implement strict safety protocols,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, essential shops and services such as supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, hardware, computer stores, appliance stores, The SM Store, and other retail stores remain open and select restaurants are allowed for takeout and delivery.

As to mall hours/business operations, base mall hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. but may vary depending on the directive issued by the local government units.

“We ask everyone to continue to support MSMEs by ordering from our tenants, many of which are micro, small and medium enterprises. When you order from our malls, you also help our delivery riders, many of who were ex-construction workers, tricycle drivers and OFWs,” the statement explained.

An innovation brought by the Covid-19 pandemic is the SM Personal Shopper Program. There is also the Takeout and Delivery Viber community for food and other needs delivered by Grab, Lalamove and other pabili services.

The SM Store, SM Supermarket and Watsons have different online ordering and delivery services.
