OVP GETS HIGHEST AUDIT RATING FOR 2019
FOR the second time in a row, the office of Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo was among government agencies that received the highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit (CoA) for Fiscal Year 2019.
The CoA gave an “unqualified opinion” on the fairness of the presentation of the financial statement of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
“Ito iyong pinaka-mataas na rating na binibigay ng CoA. Ang gustong sabihin nito walang isyu.Walang major issue na parang na- commit iyong opisina pagdating sa paghawak (This is the highest rating given by CoA. It means that there is no issue. There is no major issue that has been committed by the Office in handling funds),” Robredo said in her weekly radio program on Sunday.
Some of the agencies that received the same rating were the Philippine Competition Commission, Energy Regulatory Commission and Insurance Commission.
Robredo said the Audit commission noted observations such as the low utilization of the medical assistance fund in 2019. But she said the office was able to explain this, citing the ban on giving assistance during the elections, among others.
“Dapat iyong lahat na government offices, in a-aspire it o para pinagtatrabahuan. Kasikapagina- aspire mo na magkaroon ka ng unqualified opinion, sinisiguro mo na iyong lahat na proseso mo malinis, hindi ka nalulusutan, maayos lahat iyong papeles, ma ayos lahat iyong proseso( All government agencies must aspire for this so that they would work on it. Because if you aspire to have an unqualified opinion, you would ensure that all processes are clean, there would be no gaps, all documents and processes are done well),” she added.
Robredo also expressed hopes that all government agencies also aspire for the certification of the International Organization for Standardization, which the OVP achieved since 2017 by putting in place its own internal controls for a more prudent spending of public funds.
