- TEXT BY ALAIN LOUISE GERONIMO

MAXUS Philippines (PH), under Ayala-backed Automobile Central Enterprise Inc. (ACEI), virtually launched the G50 — Maxus’s latest people hauler, slotting below the G10 at an affordable retail price of P1.088 million for the base Pro model.

“The reliability, efficiency, power and versatility of our products make them ideal for businesses and even essential, life-saving purposes. The G50 is our latest vehicle that caters, again, to the Filipino family,” ACEI President Felipe Estrella said in a statement.

The G50 sports strong lines, flowing through the length of the car while its ront fascia, complete with chrome grille accents, gives the car a bold look. Inside the eight-seater G50 is an elegant, leatherette clad interior, which evokes refinement. It doesn’t skimp out on features too — a 12-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth is standard along with wireless charging, cruise control, automatic air-conditioning and keyless entry, among others. It is spacious as well with its 2-3-3 seating configuration. Safety features include driver, passenger and side airbags; stability control; parking sensors; a reverse camera; immobilizer, tire pressure monitor and electronic parking brake.

Powering the G50 is a Euro-6 compliant turbocharged 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 169 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The car sits on 16-inch wheels on the base Pro model while the higher-end Elite and Premium models get 17-inch alloys.

The Maxus G50 is offered with seven different colors to choose from: Roland Purple, Water Blue, Polar Ash, Deep Golden, Warm White, Warm Argent and Metal Black. If looking for an upgrade from the base trim, it will cost P1.168 million for the middle range Elite Model and P1.288 million for the range-topping Premium. All models come with a five-year warranty.

“The G50 is an MPV (multipurpose vehicle) that can take in even your extended family members since it’s an eight-seater. It’s ideal for long road trips and family picnics. The great thing about this is that it has the price of a subcompact MPV,” Maxus PH General Manager Reggie See said.
