Whole-of-nation system needed against red tape – Bong Go

- JAVIER JOE ISMAEL

SEN. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go emphasized on Friday the need for a whole-of-nation approach to curb corruption and cut red tape as he lauded the recent passage of a bill to simplify bureaucratic processes.

On Wednesday, the Senate approved Senate Bill (SB)1844, a proposed anti-red tape measure that seeks to give the president the authority to simplify bureaucratic processes during national emergencies, which will make doing business easier, as well as strengthen the fight against corruption.

Go, who is co-author and co-sponsor of the measure, lauded the passage of the bill, saying that swifter and more efficient conduct of government transactions during times of national emergencies can also set a benchmark to improve government processes even during normal times.

“Kung mag aw ana ting mas map a bi li sang prose so in times of national em er gen ci esdahil saba ta sn ai to, subuk ann arin nat ing ga win gk as ingbilis,m as ma ay os, at mas ma a as a han ang serb is yong go bye rn osaka hit an um angp ana hon( If we can make the process faster in times of national emergencies because of this law, why don’t we also try to make as fast, better and more reliable the service of government at any given time),” he said.

“Import an te pot ala gait okay Pangu long[ Rodrigo] Du te rte as urgent( This is really very important for President Duterte, that is why he certified it as urgent). It is also my honor to be a co-author and co-sponsor of this bill,” he added.

The senator also encouraged Filipinos to help in the efforts to improve public service delivery by reporting wrongdoings or inefficiencies they experience in government processes.

“Magtulun ga nat mag bay a ni han pot a yo para ma tang gal an gr ed tape at corrupt ions a a ting bu ru kr as ya. Magma las a kit ta yo sam gakapwa na tin g Pi lip in oat big y anna tin si lang ma bil is ,( Let us help one another. Through the community spirit, we can help stamp out red tape and corruption in our bureaucracy. Let us be helpful to our countrymen and give them fast, orderly and reliable government service),” said Go.
