two is, in the American style, you form a letter W when you blow into the instrument. While in the european you form a letter U shape with your mouth.

What is your dream piece?

“strauss obe Concerto” because with this piece, an oboist will show his technical skill, his music side, and how long he or she can keep his breathe while playing the oboe. Let me tell you about the Circular Breathing technique, it is done when you are blowing wind into the instrument and at the same time you are breathing. it is spontaneous breathing, blowing without stopping, the music does not stop. it is really a technique. this technique is believed to have originated from the snake charmers in india. they cannot stop playing otherwise the snake will bite them. they snake charmers can do this circular breathing between 30 to 45 minutes. my own record with this technique is 30 minutes so far.

What makes you wake up every day to do the same routine, your motivation?

i tell myself, we have a new piece to practice today, and i will play with my co-members in the PPo. every morning, i look forward to rehearse with them. it is different when you practice with the whole PPo orchestra.

What advise can you share with your students about music. How can you convince people to come and watch an oboe concert or any classical concert?

For the students, just practice. if you have some difficulty, ask how to solve it. Just focus and rehearse it again until it becomes better.

For those interested in playing the oboe, listen to it, so you will know how different it is from other instruments.

The oboe maybe difficult at first but once you have mastered it, you will realize that the oboe is really a unique instrument with a different sound. in my case, my teacher mr. mendoza really pushed me to play the oboe well. After one year, he made me compete in nAmCYA and i won 3rd place (modesty aside). For that, i practiced eight to nine hours, sometimes past midnight.

For the listeners, listen to the instrument. the oboe has a particular sound, but once you get used to it, you will understand why the oboe is a special instrument.
