LEXUS IS 300h: A pulse-pounding sport sedan with hybrid technology
YOUR first step into hybrid motoring can take the form of an iconic sport sedan. The new IS was engineered to be a driver’s car without any compromises after all. The hybrid IS 300h variant delivers on that promise.
Through rigorous development and testing, the new IS was born and bred at the Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama Test Track, where the toughest and most challenging roads in the world have been recreated. The outcome was an IS lineup that is agile and provocative. First to be introduced locally were the pulse-pounding IS 350 F Sport and the IS 300h Premier. Now, Lexus introduces the IS 300h. While boasting hybrid technology, both IS 300h variants thoroughly espouse Lexus’s DNA.
Under the svelte and sculpted lines of the IS 300h is a powerful-yet-efficient hybrid drivetrain. It is powered by a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder mated to a Lexus E-CVT intelligent transmission for optimum efficiency in every driving condition. The 16-valve DOHC dual VVTi petrol engine is paired with an equally powerful electric motor. When in tandem, power delivered to the rear wheels is a combined 220 hp. Zero to 100 kph happens in a swift 8.7 seconds. Maximum torque is an impressive 221 Nm. Even more noteworthy is the kind of fuel efficiency the IS 300h delivers. The EV Drive Mode lets you use the electric motor at slow speeds. In turn, this reduces emissions and saves on fuel.
EMIRATES’ economy class customers can now enjoy even more personal space and privacy on board with the ability to purchase up to three empty adjoining seats on their flight.
These seats will be offered to all economy class customers holding a confirmed booking. Customers will not be able to prebook empty seats, as these are subject to availability. Empty seats will only be offered for purchase at the airport check-in counter prior to flight departure, and costs per empty seat range depending on flight sector plus applicable taxes .
Emirates has introduced this new seat product on the back of customer feedback, addressing the needs of a range of customers seeking extra privacy and space while still flying in economy class. This includes couples who wish to have the entire row up to three seats to themselves, parents traveling with in-lap infants or those who simply want the added assurance of more space while traveling during pandemic times.
Economy class customers can choose the following, based on their travel needs: extra legroom seats or exit row seats offering additional space, subject to safety requirements; twin seats or seats in a row of two at the back of Emirates’ Boeing 777 aircraft and on the upper deck of Emirates’ 2-class Airbus A380 aircraft; preferred seats or seats in the first section of the cabin and on the upper deck of A380 2 class; and regular seats or all other economy seats.
