Bong Go extends additional aid to poor in QC

- JAVIER JOE ISMAEL

SEN. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go distributed additional assistance to 200 indigents who sought government support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Quezon City on Thursday.

“Do not lose hope because we will overcome all the crises if we will cooperate and help one another. We know time is hard now. President [Rodrigo] Duterte feels the difficulties you are going through. We will not leave you, we will continue to serve you,” he said.

While the DSWD provided financial assistance to the beneficiaries, Go’s team distributed food, vitamins, masks and face shields.

The activity was done in batches while observing health and safety protocols to further prevent the spread of the virus.

The chairman of the Senate

Committee on Health and Demography reminded the beneficiaries to strictly follow the necessary government-issued protocols in order to protect themselves and their communities.

The senator also offered to assist those who are in need of medical attention.

He advised them to seek medical assistance from any of the 102 Malasakit Centers established nationwide. Six Malasakit Centers

are in Quezon City — at the Lung Center of the Philippines, Novaliches District Hospital, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute and East Avenue Medical Center.

“My office personnel will continue to go around in order to provide help and leave behind a smile at a time of your misery. Do not be shy to approach us because it is our job to serve all of you,”

Go said.

“We know you are already hard up. President Duterte and I are also experiencing the same difficulties, however, you all serve as an inspiration for us to work well and continue to serve all of you,” he stressed.

Go earlier distributed assistance to another batch of 200 walk-in clients of DSWD.
